iRiver Story firmware to become open-source

iRiver have seemed to have announced that it's making it's kernel and other parts, open-source, in the hope that the community would be able to assist in better-developing it's interface and other properties.

I certainly hope this isn't an indication from iRiver that it will be slowing down it's development and leaning on the community instead, as this device sadly isn't as widespread as it needs to be, to have the motivation to be open-sourced successfully.

Ivo's blog deals extensively with the hacking and coding aspect of this device, and you can find his journal at: http://vanderwijk.info/

Anyhow, you can find the source files at:

The best iRiver Story firmware update source, translated...

For all of you guys who want to get the iRiver Story firmware updates as soon as they are available, would have noticed that the English and Australian/American sites lag behind when it comes to getting the new firmware download link.

Or, if you didn't know, then there you go, you actually have to wait a month or more to actually have your local iRiver site update itself. The best source to track new firmware updates, is from iRiver's Korean site, which is where the iRiver HQ is.

But you can't read Korean you say? Well, i'm giving you a Google 'Translated' version, which you can access here, so make sure to bookmark this page, to get the latest firmware.
