iPad may kill Kindle with it's own software

Everyone has been talking about the iPad and how it with it's iBook app store would destroy Amazon and it's Kindle but I dare say, we no need look further than the Kindle software to realise that Apple can use Amazon's own ordinance to kill it.

Kindle has late last year distributed on the iPhone it's Kindle app which works just like Amazon's device, purchasing and reading books from the Amazon store and using Whispersync to sync your account with the PC and any other Amazon account.

Now to presume that either Amazon would be foolish enough to design an iPad version or even if we use the iPhone optimised version on the iPad, we end up with a device that has a large screen, has colour and unlike the Kindle is capable of dazzling software and other apps, including reading open epub books. Who would therefore buy a Kindle at a comparable price to the iPad when you can get an iPad with the more features ?

As I have said all along, Amazon should have joined forced with Apple and get it's kindle bookstore on Apple rather than develop it's own device.

Acrobat.com now on iPhone

Mark Szulc has reported in his personal blog that acrobat.com, an Adobe press release statement that announced Acrobat.com is now available for the iPhone. Acrobat.com is an Adobe collaboration package that allows for a user to work with, and create PDFs, and print and share PDFs, as well as fax PDFs directly from your phone. So you can take a photo of a whiteboard (as Mark says) and share it as a pdf with your buddies on the other side of the world.

Tip: PDANet, Using your iPhone to tether for free (jailbroken)

Hey guys,

Another tip for you iphone owners who have broken out of jail (Jailbroken), and want to tether your iPhone for free.  Follow these simple steps and you are on your way to using your laptop and iPhone together to tether, without the intervention of your mobile carrier.

On your iPhone:
1) On your iPhone, locate and access Cyndia, the jailbroken installer and search for an app called PDANet,  and install it.

2) Once you have it installed and its available on your Springboard, access it and choose between the options of USB or WIFI. It's up to you, but if you use Wifi you have to set up a wifi ad-hoc network (on your mac you can do that easily by going to network menu icon and creating a new wifi location). Once you have that set, find the wifi spot on your iphone and then access PDANet  and you should be able to see a dashboard stating that you are connected and ready to access the net.

On your Mac/PC:
Well, if you decide to not use Wifi and instead opt for USB, you need to download the desktop client and install it. It will ask you to reboot and after you return back, you have a taskbar/menu icon that allows you to connect to your wifi (provided you hooked up your phone to your computer).

Hope this helps. You can use this technique with Android as well as Windows-based phones, so not exclusive to the iPhone, but definitely a worthy project these guys have been working on!
